Badger, a sweet and energetic 11 months Old Cocker Spaniel was referred to us as he had a fever and was gagging and coughing.
He came into our diagnostic imaging team who undertook a CT scan, then our internal medicine team did a bronchoscopy which is a minimally invasive diagnostic procedure where a flexible endoscope is inserted into the dog’s airways to see what could be causing the symptoms.
This procedure easily identified a piece of wheat lodged in Badger’s airways that he must have breathed in on a walk plus an associated infection, the wheat germ was removed and Badger was sent home with medications to rest.
He fully recovered from his experience and is back running in the fields!
