Energetic 18 month-old Springador Luna had a freak accident and suffered a serious leg injury so was referred to our experienced Orthopaedic team.
Luna’s owner said: “We don’t know 100% how Luna damaged her leg but we suspect she stepped into a rabbit hole when we were out on a walk. Luna came out of the bushes limping and I had to carry her home. Whatever it was that happened, the accident tore all the soft tissues in her foreleg. At only 18 months old it was horrid to think she might not run again.”
The surgery Luna needed was a major, and intricate procedure, the complex surgery that was required was to fuse several bones in her right foreleg.
Her owner added: “I was shocked and concerned for her outcome as she was reduced to virtually no exercise at all. I also understand the long recovery required for that type of operation as my husband also had to have the equivalent operation for humans. However, it’s so lovely to now see Luna running around at a million miles an hour, something I feared I might never see again. Luna’s life is totally transformed. She can run again and enjoys everything she enjoyed before. Sometimes if she’s had a very busy few days she’ll have a quieter day just to rest it up a bit. I’m so grateful for the team at DWR Veterinary Specialists who have given Luna a second lease of life after a potentially life-altering injury.”
