We are so honoured to be awarded this prestigious award for our high-quality care for cats. With our large new building we have a separate cat waiting area with benches for seating and raising cats off the ground, with calming pheromone diffusers and carrier covers.
There are also two designated cat-only consultation rooms and access to a large cat ward, which also houses two procedure rooms and a separate changing and isolation area.
Gemma Reeve, our Head of Clinical Governance and cat advocate said: “We are delighted to have achieved ISFM Cat Friendly Gold Status at DWR and are proud to provide such a calming and friendly environment for our feline friends.
“We have a passionate committee of feline friendly advocates in place who are dedicated to making sure our patients are happy and comfortable while visiting us, as well as keeping staff updated on the latest ISFM feline friendly guidance and maintaining our positive approach to all things cat.”
The ISFM launched the cat-friendly clinic initiative to encourage veterinary clinics to make changes to improve the welfare of cats in their care.
The programme advises practices on how to make their environment as welcoming as possible for cats, as well as providing support in team training, handling techniques and cat-specific client care.
Alongside Gemma, our other cat advocates are Amy Harding, Gemma Baker, Rebecca Rumsey and Alba Maldonado Moreno.
