Our Interventional Radiology service offers accurate diagnoses and new treatment options for many conditions.
It allows for minimally invasive image-guided diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of diseases and involves the manipulation of fine catheter tubes and wires to navigate around the body.
Interventional radiology offers accurate diagnoses and new treatment options for many conditions. It allows for minimally invasive image-guided diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of diseases and involves the manipulation of fine catheter tubes and wires to navigate around the body.
Many procedures that once required surgery can now be performed using interventional radiology without the need for general anaesthesia or incisions.
The members of our Interventional Radiology Team are among the first in the UK to transfer this powerful and innovative technique from the medical to the veterinary field.
They use advanced imaging methods such as MRI, CT, ultrasound and fluoroscopy, to guide instruments around the body. In many cases, this eliminates the need for the large incisions associated with traditional surgery, reducing physical trauma, risk of infection, length of recovery and hospitalisation periods.
