After graduating in 2002 from the University of Turin, Italy, Barbara completed a PhD in Veterinary Pharmacology and worked as fellow in pharmacology for many years. Meanwhile, she continued practising veterinary medicine in out-of-hours veterinary practices. She completed a 3-year Residency in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia and a 4-year Doctorate of Veterinary Medical Specialisation at UCD Dublin, Ireland. Since then she spent time as a Locum Lecturer in Veterinary Anaesthesia at the University of Liverpool, UK, and an Anaesthesia Clinician at Northwest Veterinary Specialists, UK.
Barbara is a member of the Association of Veterinary Anaesthetists and her main interests include target-controlled infusion techniques, pain management and ultrasound-guided locoregional anaesthesia.
